मुख्यतः ज़िंदगी के सरोकारों को टटोलती इस किताब का शीर्षक है 'ज़मीर ज़िंदा है'; शायद ख़ुद को यह विश्वास दिलाने के लिये कि आजकल की इस दौड़ती भागती तथा आत्मकेंद्रित दुनिया में भी ज़मीर नाम की चीज़ पाई जाती है, ख़ासकर हम जैसे साधारण इंसानों में भी। क़रीब साठ कविताओं/नज़्मों/ग़ज़लों की पुस्तक है जिसमें तीन खंड हैं। तीनों के नाम उर्दू के नामचीन शायरों की मशहूर पंक्तियों से प्रभावित हैं- 1.यादे-माज़ी अज़ाब है या रब..... याने नोस्टाल्जिया 2. इक आग का दरिया है ....... याने इश्क़ विश्क़, तथा 3. और भी ग़म हैं ज़माने में....... याने सरोकार भाषा में उर्दू शब्दों का खुलकर प्रयोग किया है क्योंकि नज़्मों और ग़ज़लों के सहज प्रवाह में उर्दू फ़िट बैठती है, लेकिन ये शब्द अमूमन ऐसे नहीं हैं जिनके लिए आपको फ़ुटनोट देखने की ज़रूरत पड़े। आगे, अंतिम निर्णय आप सुधि पाठकों के हाथ में है। आपको निराशा नहीं होगी, इसी विश्वास के साथ ये पहली कोशिश आप सबकी नज़र है!
Anyone who is interested in Hindi-Urdu poetry with a flavour of our composite culture, poetry which dwells deep down the conscience. Anyone who is nostalgic about the days bygone, when lives were simpler, yet more meaningful. Anyone who is pained by strife and mistrust, anyone who has a hope and a vision for a future where humanity prevails!
What happens when a banker-cum-project financier juggling with debt, equity, financial modelling and ROIs suddenly re-discovers her long lost penchant for poetry? My journey of self discovery for the last six odd months culminates in gazals and nazms which haunt with the moorings of nostalgia, which meander through love in the troubled times, and most importantly; which try to stoke a fire within on issues affecting our lives and times- the communal divide, the agony of belonging to the so called 'lesser' sex which is shown her place time and again, the rampant rumour mongering of the 'fake news' variety, the helplessness of a farmer driven to suicide and so on. The raison d'être of this book- passion for certain universal values, hopes for better days for the coming generations, to rekindle interest in poetry with a purpose! The language- Hindi with a fair sprinkling of Urdu words to go effortlessly with the flow of the genre but the kinds that do not drive you to the footnotes. Hope these baby steps taken at the wrong side of forties find favour with poetry lovers!
