Manju is a collection of 20 short stories. It will be published in Hindi language. The book Manju is loosely based on the life of my mother, Manju sharma, where I have taken snippets from her life and converted them into moral stories for children. The stories also give a glimpse of early India, its traditions and values, for children to understand and imbibe. These stories depict the fun and enriched life of Manju with her siblings in the historical city of Agra and her ancestral village Shergarh. Few of the stories are based on her life in the USA during the covid pandemic.
This book is for children between the age group of five to 15 years of age
This idea of a book came to me when I looked at my kids and wondered how to pass on the greatness their grandmother exemplified. Through Her stories, I decided.
These stories are not just for them but for every child, to understand and learn from Her life. To imbibe the true values of Indian's way of living in harmony with nature and people alike.
To learn to value others and to never give up on adversities. To know her a little more, and appreciate the strength of the woman who surpassed all expectations. To remember Her selfless ways, and if possible to emulate those ways for a better world now and tomorrow. I would be proud of myself, if I could echo a fraction of what She was. And I shall try as long as I live.
This book is my humble tribute to my mother, Manju Sharma- my literature, learning guide and my constant motivation. My consistent emotion.
