Love and Desire
Everyone talks of it but no one knows love
What flows forever and ever is love..
Night half had passed,
You drew my hand,
And with a finger, wrote Love
The world was sleeping around us,
And our beds were a bit apart,
Stars of the sky only knew the state of your heart,
So near was I, yet so far, half awake and half asleep
Night half had passed,
You drew my hand,
And with a finger, wrote Love
With a touch of lightning I woke up, the crescent moon rose in the western sky
You were lying on your side, tears flowing to the other eye
I would set this world on fire, love where is stifled, tied
You know, you had prepared me to go any miles that night
Night half had passed,
You drew my hand,
And with a finger, wrote Love
The night merges in the day, and in daylight the darkness drowns
Entire stage changes in a moment, who so masterly the curtains draws?
That night, I removed a face and you put on one, my sweet dame
Was that my dream, or asserted you on yourself, your claim?
Night half had passed,
You drew my hand,
And with a finger, wrote Love
At that distance, much we tried,
Never ever we reached again,
A time like that, nor the chance,
Came back ever again,
The cruel moon never returned again,
And how do I speak of my feelings,
Do these lines not express my pain?
The ember you placed on my hand when we met
Continues to burn on yet
Night half had passed,
You drew my hand,
And with a finger, wrote Love

Caresses me lightly
Like a fleeting touch of a yellow georgette pallu,
This warm afternoon of November
Seasons have come and gone,
but for years has eluded such an afternoon
That stays ensconced day after day,
in the eyes, in those whispers, in songs.
Like stays a garland of many roses,
pressed by an embrace intimate,
dishevelled on her breasts.
Trapped in her wet tresses
like feathers of the golden bird.
This warm sunshine of November
would have descended in her courtyard
like the saffron waves on the slopes of sea-shells
Like a whisper, would have slipped on her fair shoulders
Becoming desire, would have seeped in her limbs.
This afternoon, pain is singeing me slowly,
And this sunshine is singeing you too
Maybe burning slowly is our destiny.
Come evening, unfolding its wings,
Sunshine would fly away to the lakes of blue mist,
Leaving behind the warmth and scalds on our tired limbs,
And memories endless of that torrid, warm November afternoon.
