CHAPTER 1

She was ready in her school uniform which was white salwar and light pink kameez with a white duppatta. “Ma, am I looking good? Look at my dupatta. Is it well pinned or not?” Asked Aditi; almost ready for school. “Yeah! You are looking good.” Replied Ma. “Aditi... Did you keep your lunch box in your school bag?” Asked Di (Aditi’s elder sister Nameeta). “Yeah Di I kept…”Replied Aditi. “Maaaa... I am leaving.” Yelled Aditi. “Beta, have your breakfast first.”Exclaimed Ma. “No Ma, I am getting late. I’ll have to leave... I don’t want to be late on my first day of school.” Said Aditi while stepping out. Aditi was ready for the first day of her class 11th in a new school; yes a school of her dream. Her eyes were full of dreams. Her pink lips with her slightly curly and black hair which suited her fair skin, makes her beautiful and attractive. Moreover, she was always the sight of attraction in her previous school. Not because she was beautiful, tall or whatever, as many beautiful girls were there other than her. She was so because she was always the topper of her class. She had performed outstanding in the 10th board which resulted in scholarship because of which she had taken admission in the most expensive and best school of her city, ‘Kanpur’. She always dreamed to abolish all the economic barriers in her family which had always appeared in her path like a boulder and made her trample her own dreams, by reaching at the zenith of the success. She stepped out, took her bicycle and started paddling. Thousands or millions of thoughts were crossing her mind at the same time, “Am I looking good? Yeah, off course I am... I am going to study in the best school of this city….Hmm...But how would I compare with the girls in my new class, they all would be stylish but I am not that much. But… there must be some girls like me too. And after all I am good at studies.”While fighting with her thoughts, she crossed the way and she realized it when she saw the broad entrance with a great rush there. Some brightened metal blocks by the morning sunlight irritated her eyes when she forced herself to look up. It was the school name ‘Sunshine Public School, Kanpur.’ The ecstasy; about which she had imagined only, was embracing her. A glimpse of the school name brought a huge smile on her face. An extreme joviality and contentment thrones her. The fear of new environment was there coming out from her heart. At that moment, the sun was not only flashing the metal blocks but also blazed her life. Rather than moving inside, she stayed there insanely, enjoying reading the school name. It gave her a proud feeling that she was going to study in the school which she had ever dreamed of. Turmoil had grown inside her, which she wanted to express by yelling before every student, “See, you all would have taken admission with your Dad’s money but I have taken on my own will.”And this invigorated her. She parked her bicycle. As she moved inside the campus, she felt that it’s a dream but if it was, she ardently wanted it to end never. She was passing from a path intersecting a garden which was well maintained, well-manicured. She was incoherent that even a school’s garden could be this much beautiful. It was nowhere less than a park. The narrow serpentine paths made in between the garden were cobbled. She wanted to ramble on those. The flowers were so beautiful and alluring which made her feel the freshness of that morning. She was glaring around just like a roadside guy would stare at girls in shorts. When our soul seems to be content and happy then we achieve a new way of looking at things. Even in a heap of trashes, you would notice that plant on which barely flower exists, if it’s so. It was true that the surrounding was actually beautiful but that sense was looking through Aditi’s eyes. When she reached the end of the path there was small fountain that divided the path which surrounded that and met after to make a broader one. Afterwards, she entered a ground around which the school buildings make a complete semicircle. There was a huge rush of students. Her way was blocked by some kids playing. The students were gamboling here and there. Generally the uproar may irritate anyone, but there she was enjoying just like it was her favourite musical node. Soon she realized that she will have to ask anyone about her classroom. She moved her eyes around to see if any school’s staff was there who could help her and she found a person heading towards her. The person appeared as a senior teacher as of his uniform. He was wearing a proper sleeved white shirt tucked in a formal blue pant with a check tie in position and a pair of leather shoes. The bundle of file which he was handling was insuring it that he must be the one. “Excuse me sir...” She said. His questioning eyes poking through his black framed spectacles stuck at his nose made her feel like he must be some genius kind of character like the Veeru Shastra Buddhe urf virus in three idiots. “Would you please bother to tell me where is 11th PCM section-B.” Asked Aditi. “Oh fresher... 3rd building... 2nd floor... last corner... and there it is.” He replied her in a hurry. “Thank you s…” Half listening to her thanks, he moved on like a busy one. She moved towards 3rd building. As she reached the building, stairs were infront of her but before she would have climed one, she noticed that there is a known face coming downstairs. She was slightly confused as she rooted there if it was known or seems like a known one. While cross examining her thoughts she noticed ‘that’ someone is also staring her in the face. Watching this she speeded up. Yes it was her one of the best friend Trisha of class 5. Both of them were departed because Trisha had changed her school and had taken admission in Sunshine. Before Aditi’s response Trisha rushed at her and exclaimed her name, both were cheered and amazed at the same time. “Hey Aditi! I am extremely glad to see you here. How? I mean, after how many years we met.” Said Trisha excitedly. “Oh my my! Trisha you are totally changed. It was a little bit tough for me to recognize you. Your hair was short but now it’s long and…and you were slim but now you have gained some weight.” “But it was not hard for me. You are still that Aditi whom I have met years before.” Said Trisha.“Hey! In which section you are?” Again she added. “I am in 11th PCM section-B. What about you?” Asked back Aditi. “What a coincidence damn! Me too.” Reacted Trisha surprised. “Really! I am so excited. We are going to share our bench again.” Said Aditi. “Yeah! Let’s go to the class.” (While moving upstairs) “You know what? I was worried about my first class. But now I am chill.” Said Aditi. “Well I am not because each and every bricks of this school is accustomed with me.” Replied Trisha, when both of them smiled. Their gossip was interrupted when they reached their class. They entered their class and grabbed the 4th bench. “Who is our class teacher?” Asked Aditi. “I am not sure about class 11th but may be Mr. Khurana would be the one.” Replied Trisha. In between their gossip the same teacher arrived whom Aditi had asked about classroom in the playground. “Hey! Look, this is Mr. Khurana. He is going to teach us physics.” Suddenly Trisha whispered. As the teacher arrives each student stood up and wished good morning to the teacher. “Sit down every one.” Said the teacher. “I am P. Khurana, your physics teacher.” He introduced himself. “Be ready for the attendance”. He said as if he doesn’t want to waste any time. “Anita.” “Present sir.” “Swati.” “Present sir.” “Saurabh.” “Present sir.” “Trisha.” “Present sir.” .... ..... ..... “Adit...“Present sir.” Two voices clashed. The first student was Aditi sitting in the classroom with Trisha and the second student was a fairly built boy with silky hair crossing between his two eyebrows and a sky colour school bag hanging off his shoulders standing on the classroom’s door who was late on his first class. “Both of you are Aditi?” Asked the teacher. “No sir… I mean sorry sir… I mean I am Aditya sir. Actually I didn’t listen clearly. It somehow sounds like my name, so...” The student standing at the door answered awkwardly. The class blast in laughter and Aditya stood like a cute puppy. “Silence please.”Shouted the teacher and turned to the boy. “So Mr. Aditya you are late on your first day of school and you announced your presence on a girl’s name. Should I let you enter or…?” Asked the teacher sarcastically. “Off course sir...” Retorted Aditya interrupting. “Shut up…” Shouted the teacher.“As you wish sir.” Muttered Aditya. “If it hadn’t been your first class then you would have been rewarded to stand outside the class for the whole period.” Said teacher angrily. After listening this, Aditya stepped in when the teacher pointed again angrily, “You are not asked to enter till now.” “Sir...Bahar rehne v to ni kaha tha.” Aditya muttered loudly. “What?” Again shouted the teacher. “Sir I was asking if I could enter or...?” Replied Aditya, covering himself. “Take your seat and I expect that you will never ever repeat this nonsense.” Ordered the teacher. “Sure sir.” Replied Aditya. While moving towards his seat he was staring at Aditi in anger. “No manners. Did he belongs to Sunshine?” Aditi whispered to Trisha. “I don’t think so. But he seems so interesting.” Replied Trisha whisperingly.Aditya set on the bench parallel to Aditi’s. “Shut up. He.....such a manner less one.” Said Aditi angrily. After the attendance Mr. Khurana started with the first chapter. He took the chalk and started to write something on the black board. “Hey! Hi! What’s your name?” Aditya asked to his single bench mate. “Hi! I am Rishav.” Replied his bench mate when Aditya added. “They call me Adi.” Aditi was busy in her books so she was not listening to all these gossips. “Yes Adi.” Interrupted Mr. Khurana. After listening Adi, again the two voices clashed. “Yes sir.”Again it was Aditi and Aditya. “I am talking to Aditya not you Miss Aditi” while staring at Aditi the teacher said. “Aa a o sa… sorry sir.” Replied Aditi with a feeling of awkwardness. “Yes you Mr. Aditya, I think you must introduce yourself to your bench mate after the class.” The teacher scolded him. “That’s a good idea sir.” Said Aditya with amaze like he was unaware of it and it was a clear arrogance. Astonishment and confusion crossed Mr. Khurana’s mind at the same time and he turned towards the black board. After the class when Aditi was busy in gossips with Trisha, Aditya interrupted and told Aditi. “O miss problem change your name, okay?” “Me…? How dare you? I am not miss problem but you are Mr.Disaster. And look, if you have problem then you should change your name not me. Okay?” Chided Aditi. He mimicked Aditi; making his face and said,“Okay, then at least try to listen first that whose name is being called then react. Idiot.” “Oh really? I think you must have remembered this when you were standing on the gate. Duffer.”Said Aditi angrily. Their debate was interrupted by the teacher who arrived after Mr. Khurana. Aditya made a teasing face and turned towards the teacher. Aditi whispered to Trisha, “This guy is a trouble, I hate him.” “Just chill.” Said Trisha. After two more classes of Math and English, the recess bell rang. The class seemed to experience an ecstasy after three continuous uninteresting classes. Everyone rushed to the canteen and the class became deserted like an earthquake has just struck the building. Unlike the whole students; Aditi went to search for the staff room with Trisha to meet the chemistry teacher Mr. P.C Das, who was her father’s old acquaintance. In the class room Adi was busy in making new friends and discussing his views about the girls of his class. After the recess every one again gathered in the class room and again there were two continuous classes of chemistry and IT. In the chemistry class Mr. P.C Das paid special attention to Aditi because in his views Aditi was one of the best student. Finally the bell rang and students rushed out of the class. At the school gate Aditi and Trisha exchanged their phone numbers while a black, luxury car waited for Trisha. Actually Trisha’s father was one of the most successful businessman of Kanpur. Aditi took her bicycle, bid‘bye’ to Trisha and went her home. As she reached home she started with her first day experience in school to her Ma and Di.“Ma, it was awesome. I mean this school is really incredible and the teachers are genius. And you know the best part... I got someone really special there...” “Who’s that dear?” Asked her Di. “It’s Trisha.” Said Aditi. “Trish? One of your old classmate, right?” Again asked di surprisingly. “Yeah. And I am so excited.” Replied Aditi with the real joviality on her face. She described every incident of her first day including Adi. Aditi Sharma was the most studious one. She was that kind of person who achieves everything in their life on their own spirit. When she got admission in sunshine she took that as her life’s first successful step towards her dream. And the reason of her unbeatable success was her family, one of the sweetest families of five people. Her Papa (father), Maa (mother), Di (sister) and Bhaii(elder brother). Her Bhaii, Rohan was a middle child. He was her best friend yet, in the whole world. He was doing engineering from IIT Delhi and wanted his sister to do the same. He was one of the most caring brothers. As she was her family’s younger one, everyone would do extra care for her. Aditi’s father, Mr. Rajeev Sharma was a bank manager. Aditi’s grandparents were no more. Aditi’s father was the only son of his parents. He was such a hard working person. He got the bank job on his own spirit and also he was a man of principles. He always used to teach his children the power of hard work and importance of discipline in life. It was one of the reasons that his children were doing well in their respective fields. Aditi’s Ma was just like an Indian house wife, a typical one. She was totally dedicated to her family’s wellbeing and sometimes by ignoring her self-care. Her Di Nameeta was married when Aditi had just appeared in class 10th. She was also a bank employ before her marriage but she left the job on demand of her in laws. But she never complained for that. And now she had come to her Ma, Papa to spend some time with her family, for the first time after marriage. With the arrival of Aditi’s Papa at 5 pm, first of all he wouldcall, “Sona.” Aditi’s father would call her ‘Sona’. “Yes Papa.” Aditi said. “How was your first day at school, beta?”Asked Papa.“Papa, it was awesome. I am very happy there.” She replied with discipline which she was taught that how to stand and talk with her Papa or other elders. That so called rule, like most of the Indian family, was valid just before Papa not before Ma because after this many years, she had become her friend more than her Ma. “Did you meet Mr. P.C Das?”Asked Papa. “Yes, Papa.” Replied Aditi. She had a lot of rules to follow at her home but she never complained. She had seen every ups and downs of her family and that’s why she was more matured than other girls of her age. And at that time, like every teenagers, she was at the top of her world, full of energy that she could accepted any challenge of life served to her in a platter.
