Chapter 1 :

Synopsis

Sameer meets Akira in a metro. Her Kashmiri attire, Z black kohl and a mole on her cheek makes it impossible for him to take his eyes off her. Equally confused, Akira the first time traveler seeks his help. Time and again they meet, and Delhi metro becomes their pilgrimage. Having found out that they lived a few doors apart, their relationship turns into friendship from those of strangers. With each text they shared, with each time they met in the metro their relationship grows stronger. They came into each other’s life at a time when they needed each other the most.

Being raised as a kid of a divorced Hindu-Muslim couple, Akira is always confused about her God. She started hating love, for it always was unrequited in her life, be it about her parents or Kabir. Things from past never allowed her to move on. But Sameer, who was totally unaware about her fears, was falling for her each day, each moment. Their proximity was the one thing which Akira feared, and when Sameer confessed his feelings for her, that fear became a reality. Having not talked for a few days, they realized how important their friendship was than anything else, and they passed the test of time. Their plans of going back to Kashmir and reuniting her family almost failed when they missed their flights. But there was always a time to get things right and maybe 11:30 pm was not theirs. Driving across four states, stopping at tea stalls and waking up to a sunrise, they reach Kashmir where Sameer’s parents await them. Akira wishes she could stay in their arms forever for it was the first time in a decade that she felt at home. Akira could not find Mr. Khan when she went to his house and the thought of his father missing from his house kept her restless the whole evening until he returned back and they reconciled.

Sameer, who was unhappy with his nine to five life in Delhi loses his job but he joins Akira and Mr. Khan in picking up her mother from the airport. All three of them wish for just one thing when they reach the airport, and that was that the family gets back together. Meera could not say a no when Mr. Khan bends down on his knees and apologizes, and Akira who was lost in that moment ends up holding Sameer’s hand tighter than ever. Akira gets her parents back after a decade and Sameer decides to leave her in the solemnity of the moment.

It is a dream come true moment for Akira when her research paper gets selected, but all her excitement fades when she gets the news that Sameer would stay in Kashmir with his parents to look after his father’s work. It was the first time when Akira felt something for Sameer, for she could not leave his hand and stop her tears at the airport. Her assignments in Delhi kept her busy and their conversations reduced from a daily pilgrimage to a fortnight miracle. They missed each other each day and while Sameer was full of tears, Akira was getting up filled with guilt of not being able to reciprocate what Sameer felt for her, so much so that she made him say he hates her, and eventually he had to walk away.

Sameer, who could not hide his feelings from Akira ends up congratulating Akira on her success and Akira tells him she was happy to hear from him after two months. Akira tells Sameer she is unsure about her feelings for him and that breaks his heart. Not being able to accept her feelings for him adds up to her guilt and she writes him a letter- to the guy whose heart she broke. Sameer could not hold his feelings anymore; he could not see her cry and blame herself for a fault that was never hers. He takes a flight to Delhi and slips in a letter- to the girl who things she broke his heart in her house while waiting outside the whole night. On the morning of second august, Akira finds her person waiting outside her house with roses in his hands. Confused and still not sure about her feelings, Akira walks away and goes to her college.

They met in the metro in the evening, like they met for the first time. Sameer is lost in her eyes and she finds it difficult to look into his eyes and ends up blushing harder each time. Before they go back to their homes, Sameer asks her will she ever accept her feelings and Akira tells him she too wants to kiss him. At seven in the evening Sameer wishes he could stop time and tells Akira he would be waiting for her phone call. Days passed by and Sameer kept on waiting for the phone call he never received. Unsure of her feelings, once again Akira could not accept it and the month of August separated them again. This time, Sameer did not walk back.

Arjun Sarkar came back as an elixir to otherwise dying heart of Sameer. Just like he saved his cricket matches, he saved Sameer and makes him celebrate whatever one percent of happiness he had in the Caribbean style. Their days started off with a high and ended up in a musical night. Two months of separation from Akira Khan made Sameer fall harder for her, but the presence of Arjun did not let him go back. Each day he would long to talk to her and each night he ended up with poetry in her name. September ended and Arjun Sarkar had to go back. Once again Sameer was left with his thoughts and a quarter of whiskey in the nights so long.

Time conspired for Akira and Sameer and they met again, this time in October. Meeting Akira again left Sameer confused, for he got his home back but was unsure about her presence in it. The evening of first October makes Akira confess that she wants Sameer back in her life, that two months were more than enough and that she was not able to live without him. Sameer feels lost and ends up with tears in his eyes when Akira tells her what all she went through in two months and how much she wanted Sameer to be with him, but could not be. The evening gets over and Sameer, with all the strength he could gather, tells Akira they will meet someday else.

The next day Sameer wakes up to a totally different morning, not with an expresso and economic times, but with a coffee he brews and the poetry he longed to scribble. On the evening of second October, when Sameer was travelling in the metro after two months, he meets Akira Khan, just like the way they met for the first time. Being sure of her feelings this time, Akira confesses all her feelings to Sameer. Sameer, who is again lost in her eyes, totally unaware of the announcements in the metro, tells Akira Khan he too wants to kiss her.

It was seven in the evening, they both were together and they wished if they could stop time.
